Amy from Auburn, CA June 25th, 2010 We ended up purchasing this high chair after reviewing the choices our local baby stores (didn't find much at a reasonable price) and after seeing a friend's chair. We love our chair! It is solid, beautiful & small enough for our little condo kitchen. The BPA-free plastic tray is perfect for our now-toddler (19 months - we got this for him when he was about 10 months old)who does love to make a mess. In the beginning, we weren't sure how he was going to fit because the T-bar that attaches to the chair either made it impossible to get him in or kept him from being close enough to the tray. In the end, we opted to leave the T-bar off since the bottom of the tray also has a crotch bar & there was no worry of him scooting down & falling through. He is an average size toddler & I expect he will be able to use this chair until a younger sibling comes along to occupy it. When the tray is off, he can climb into it himself, though I stand by just in case! Also, although it does not have wheels, there are large felt pads on the bottom of the chair making it easy for us to slide across our tile floor. And, although the seat cushion is washable & seems to wash pretty well, I've taken off for now since he tends to find a way to spill onto it & I got tired of washing it!

Eileen Hackett June 3rd, 2010 This chair is just adorable and highly functional. It helps the little ones sit up with support from the tray and can handle a lot of squirming. We ordered a very popular plastic model 1st and ended up sending it back due to quality issues (plus it was just 'too much'). With this chair there are no regrets!!

Maria March 18th, 2010 The highchair arrived practically assembled with just a few things left to do. It's compact, attractive, sturdy. There are two settings for the crotch bar, one for up to 6 months, the other for up to 12 months. The first setting is small and is very tight for my 5 month old, so we adjusted it to the second setting and it works fine. Great highchair!

Tara from Cincinnati March 6th, 2010 Our son is 7 months old and just before he was born we did tons of research on high chairs. We are very picky about buying nothing for him that's made in China or has any scary paints, fragrances, etc. We saw this high chair in person at a store in our area, but then, he was born, and not too long after that I went back to work and anyway, it took us a while to actually purchase the chair. We really have needed it and I was so looking forward to its arrival.
So it came today and I am so sad about how different it is from what I expected. Between the time of our research and the purchase, I guess they moved manufacture of the Anka to China, because that's where this one was made and it looks totally different than the one I saw in person. There is literally a hand print in the finish, and it looks like maybe someone dragged it along the ground for a while - the finish is all scuffed and milky. I wouldn't return it for another one though, because it's also totally off balance and wobbly - I would never sit my son in this chair.
If you're like me, you're considering this product because of the nice, simple design, the apparent safety from the company with a good reputation and Scandinavian design, and the non-toxic nature of the finish. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to start from scratch on that effort and I suggest if you have similar criteria that you do the same.

J Kim from CA February 24th, 2010 My son loves this chair! I was worried that he might not like it but he sits and plays with his toys while I feed him and also when I need to get some work done on my computer.

susie kim from california February 16th, 2010 actually i got this because my son started his solids, but now he sits and plays (well actually throws) with his toys well while i try to get some work done on my computer. i think he enjoyes the fact that he now has his own seat and finds it comfortable. now once he has no more toys left to throw i catch him playing with his belt or watching wheels of fortune.. hmmmm

Amanda from Ohio January 27th, 2010 I did a ridiculous amount of research on every product i bought for my daughter. I wanted a highchair with no toxic plastics or wood finishes. The Anka met that criteria.
The positives- non toxic, large removable plastic tray cover, compact design, tall crotch bar, adjustable foot rest
However now that I am using it for my 6 month old I realize it has a few huge flaws. Some things you don't realize until you actually use something. I am always sharing feeding duty with my husband. Thus we "scoot" the high chair at times back and forth on the floor in front of each other. So I wish it had wheels.
The second issue is actually suprising that the company hasn't remedied this. When you take the wood tray off (which is heavy) there is no place to latch it or hang it. So we have to lean it against the wall. It is so heavy it falls over. I wish there were hooks on the back of the highchair to place the tray. When you have the baby in one hand it is hard to deal with the clunky tray.
Third issue is actually the size. I have a larger child (6 months old 27 inches and 20 pounds) She likely will outgrow this high chair. It is difficult to slide her down into the seat because the crossbar/crotch bar is a fixed part of the chair.
I imagine with everything there is a trade off.

Nicole from Austin, TX January 26th, 2010 We do not have a kitchen table, so we needed something we could set up next to the island where we eat. Our 8 month old fits perfectly in here, and it's easy to sit in our barstools and feed him. The honey color is beautiful - it looks great with our cherry cabinetry. Definitely no regrets!

Anja from DC November 2nd, 2009 This high chair is easily assembled and the removable plastic tray cover makes clean-up pretty easy. Finishes of edges, screw, holes, etc. are not perfect which appears to be the trade off for the comparatively low price. Cushion is nicely padded and our 10 month old boy appears very comfortable in this chair. I would probably not recommend this chair for small babies because it only has a 3 point harness.

Caroline from Anacortes, WA October 26th, 2009 We have a small daughter and it is PERFECT for her. She has been using it since she was about 5 months old and is now almost 1... no problems at all... love that we can pull it up to the table and the size of it.
matches the house nicely too! great buy!!! think it will be a chair she can use into her toddler years!

Helena from Salt Lake City, Utah September 6th, 2009 Great high chair! I hate the bulky, plastic high chairs. The Anka is completely opposite. I love that it's small and looks like a piece of furniture. It was easy to assemble and easy to clean. I love the espresso finish. It matches perfectly with our home. The plastic tray is a bit hard to remove but it fits in the dishwasher. Great modern high chair that will grow with our child.

Anel from San Jose, CA September 2nd, 2009 This chair is great, you can adjust the distance of the tray, as well as the foot rest, it takes very little space and has a sleek design, the height is just right for the table (so it's excellent for when we turn it in to a booster chair), as well as for us when feeding him, we just sit on one of our dinning room chairs. Our baby is comfortable and happy in it. Some reviews say it's hard to take the tray cover on and off, but I didn't find it hard at all, it's totally fine. We are completely satisfied with our choice.

Alisa S from Buffalo, NY June 17th, 2009 I really want to love this highchair, but I just don't.
**Pros: wood, small, light colored cover doesn't stain, can use at the "big" table without the tray, healthy
**Cons: Espresso stain chips super easy. I've had mine 6 months and it looks quite worn. The safety harness does not come off so it is impossible to wash. I've taken a scrub brush to it, but there are still pureed peas stuck in the webbing. The tray is impossible. The plastic should be flexible enough to snap over the wood tray, but it is too stiff. It is hard to get on and off. The plastic was even cracked when it arrived, but if it wasn't cracked, I'm not sure I could even get the tray on. The safety bar that the tray sits on (the one that the baby puts his legs through) seems like it is designed poorly. My little guy has bruises on his shins from trying to slide his legs in - and he's not a big kid.
Like I said, I really want to like this high chair. Maybe when I can take the tray off and use it at the regular table.

Erin from Ypsilanti, MI January 1st, 2009 We love this high chair. It is a great alternative to the larger chairs with vinyl seats and cheaper than some of the other scandinavian products. It is compact and made of real wood and has a fabric seat. The tray can be removed and the chair can be pushed up to the table which is nice for family meals. (There is a-t bar that holds the baby in and a three-point harness.) The seat cover can be washed in the washing machine. The only thing that I would change is that you can't put the tray on and off with one hand. But the chair is small enough we usually just leave it on. There are some crevices that are hard to clean too - but I am sure that is the case with all high chairs!
Overall we are very happy becuase it had all the features we were looking for including a BPA free tray.

Sarah from Austin,TX October 19th, 2008 This chair is great for a small eating area. It folds up and stores in a closet, if necessary, but also looks good enough to have a permanent place in the dining room. What I love the most is the simple styling and quality construction of the Svan company, but for a lot less money than the Svan chair. I also love that the cushion and plastic tray table were included, making setting it up a breeze, with no extra parts to buy.It is sturdy enough that I'm sure it will last through this baby and any more that arrive in the future.

Melissa from MN September 19th, 2008 I really like this high chair so far. We previously had a big, bulky one and this one is much better! It's easy to assemble, small and convenient, wood instead of plastic (which is always nice) and my daughter seems comfortable in it. Definitely worth buying!
