Features

The Baby B'Air Flight Vest is the ONLY SAFETY SOLUTION for lap held children who fly. The patent pending design secures your child to your lap belt to protect your child against the unexpected dangers of turbulence and to keep your child safely on your lap during flight* while allowing freedom of movement to comfort, feed and cuddle your child.

Over 90% of all injuries on commercial airlines occur during flight, yet children held in parents laps are unrestrained. The Baby B'Air Flight Vest has been tested to exceed FAA stress tests levels for aircraft seats, yet is comfortable and easy to wear allowing the child to be held, fed and changed while in the garment.

Infant Size: fits 6 weeks - 6 months, with a neck opening for heads to 16 1/2 inches.
Toddler Size: fits 6 months - 2 years, with neck opening for heads up to 19 1/2 inches. Child up to 40lbs.

*The FAA requires children over 2 to have their own seat.
*The Baby B'Air is not a car seat and cannot be used during takeoff, taxi, and landing. The Baby B'Air provides protection during flight when the majority (over 90%) of injuries occur and your child is most vulnerable.

Fortunately we did not experience flight conditions that would make the best most useful. However I can see how it would keep baby more secure on my lap at a moments notice.

I wanted to have something to keep my infant safe during our first air travel. And this one was great. The only downside, though, is that this is a little heavy on little ones' shoulders.

When we received this Baby B'Air vest as a gift, I thought for sure it would be one of those things that wasn't really useful as (1) we didn't plan on doing a lot of flying with our infant son and (2) I doubted it would actually improve the safety for him but rather prove to be an unnecessary "gadget". My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised! We flew with our son when he was 7 months and put this little vest on him, securing it to the plane seatbelt. We were SO happy to have it because it allowed him to sit up in the seat and us not to have to constantly keep our arms in front of him to ensure he didn't fall forward onto the floor. He didn't mind the restraint at all and hardly noticed it! Very worthwhile item. Although we didn't fly often when he was an infant, it was worth it the few times we did.

I've flown with this and another harness that was FAA approved several times. I was never harassed about the harness but was harassed over this vest. I was forbidden to latch the baby's vest to my seat belt because I was told I could have difficulty unlatching my belt in an emergency. Another time I was told that not only was I not allowed to latch to my belt (negating the benefit of this vest) but the child had to sit facing me on my lap. This was all for take off and landing. I was allowed to latch to my belt during the flight but isn't the most dangerous portion of the flight during takeoff and landing? This is a waste of money and you'll just start fighting with the flight crew if you buy this. Just go buy the other harness and a seat for the child. Its a lot more expensive but a whole lot better and safer. Oh- and you don't have to lug around a car seat at the airport if you buy the harness.

I bought this vest for my 4 month old girl for our flight from the US to Europe.

cons
She is 75th percentile for her age and the infant fastener was not quite long enough for her body...
pros
workanship is great, easy instructions, plus idea is great esp for us flights

If you are travelling intercontinnental though, the airlin will give you a childs lap belt which is easier to use and is required to be used during the flight.

We feel much more secure when we put the vest on our baby during the flight. But the baby got a bit too warm wearing the vest and he wasn't able to fall asleep while wearing it (he was a lap baby). Maybe too much body heat. Overall, a great buy..

This vest was used for a trans-atlantic flight with our 9 month old. She is very active and doesn't like to be constrained so this provided her with a little freedom while maintaining her safety.

Short of buying a seat and bringing along an FAA approved infant carrier this is a MUST. It's easy to use, soft and comfortable for baby and for the parent and it's loose enough that the baby can move around some (still breast feed for example). The only down side is that because it's loose it isn't as safe as a car seat.

We debated about whether or not to buy a seat for our daughter on a recent flight. She's at that age where she wouldn't have stayed in her seat (happily) for very long. The baby b'air vest was a perfect compromise. We still felt that she was safe and secure during the flight and she had some room to move around.

The vest is very well made and I appreciated the soft quilted material. It was easy to take on and off and the baby didn't fuss at all about wearing it. I also liked that the strap that connects the child to the seat belt was long enough that the baby could stand up, squirm around and even nurse comfortably.

The vest isn't "rated" for use during takeoff and landing. It's intended for inflight use only. So the main purpose is to protect children during turbulence.

Unless you have purchased a seat for your baby (which is recommended but not always economical!) I consider this a must have purchase for any family traveling with the under two set.
