Ergo Baby Sport Carrier

This new concept in ERGObaby Carriers is sure to be a hit! Made of a blend of 35% cotton and 65% polyester, the lighter, more-breathable fabric provides a slight wicking feature to help keep babywearers more comfortable. The carrier's body features a vent to provide extra breathability, keeping both baby and parent cooler. The waist belt can extend an additional 5" further than our Standard or Organic carriers, and the shoulder straps can extend an extra 4", providing comfortable fit for babywearers of all sizes. The Sleeping Hood is completely detachable and can be stored in the pocket.

The ERGO is the way to go when it comes to baby carriers. It's the best all around choice for carrying a baby anywhere from around the house to public places. The ERGO baby carrier is conveniently compact, comfortable to wear and provides sturdy support for your baby. The ergonomic design of the carrier ensures that your baby is in the correct sitting position to encourage proper hip, pelvis and spine growth. It does this by distributing most of the baby's weight between its hips and thighs. The design also considers the health and comfort of parents. The carrier balances the baby's weight to the parents' hips and shoulders, reducing physical stress. The padded waist belt supports the lumbar area plus 1" thick padding in the shoulder straps. It can be worn on front, back or hip and can easily be changed from one to the other.

Ergo is perfect for when baby is too heavy for a sling or for when you plan on carrying your baby for extended periods of time, especially for hiking and walking. Unlike other frame back packs, with the ERGO the baby is right against your back so their weight seems less. When carrying a traditional hard frame back pack, your baby's center of gravity is further from your body and can be awkward and feel heavier. For comfortably carrying your infant, try the ERGO Infant Insert (sold separately). It supports your newborn like a baby sling while having both hands free to work. This lightweight carrier lets you carry your baby comfortably for long periods with your hands free and it looks great too.

Features:

  • Recommended use from newborn (with additional Infant Insert sold separately) up to 40 lbs
  • Waist belt extends an additional 5 inches from 30" to 48"
  • Attached Sleeping Hood gives sleeping baby some extra shade & privacy
  • Body of sport carrier is 35% cotton and 65% polyester for added comfort
  • 400 threads per inch cotton poplin lining and hood
  • Convenient pocket on back of carrier with side zipper for easy access
  • More secure than a hard-frame for baby hiking and walking
  • Machine washable

I started out with the regular ergo and loved it. We use it for hiking allot and it seems that my daughter would get really hot inside of it, so I decided to buy the sport to see if it was any better, and it was. I wouldnt say its better just different. The sport has less material to it so it breaths better and my daughter could move easier in it, making it perfect for hikes. I also use the ergo though to help put my daughter to sleep so in that case, the original would be better. So if you are using the urgo for average use, just out around town, I would get the original, it has more paddings, more conforts for you and the baby and it has a pocket on it. If you plan on doing lots of hikes, I would get the sport. It has less padding but is built better, It has vents to keep both child and adult cooler and it gives the child more space to move around in, this is important for long hikes. With all this being said, If I had to choose only one, I would get the original.

I own eight carriers and the Ergo is my ninth. It's, by far, the carrier that will take me the farthest. While it's big and bulkier than most of the carriers, it's still lightweight and a cinch to put on and take off. The best part is it's a back saver. The other carriers I have work great, but I can't carry my baby for long hauls. Also, this carrier, as a "pack" carrier, seems to be the most ergonomic for my baby

my 6 month old daughter reached the 20 lb. mark and my old carrier was hurting my shoulders so we found this one and love it. my shoulders have not hurt since i started using this. the wide waist bank is great. i use my carrier several times a week.

Works very well to keep the weight of our baby off of our shoulders and on our hips. Everyone is enjoying the Ergo Baby sport carrier.

very comfortable. have been able to go on long walks without my back hurting. prefer the moby wrap while she is a newborn, but just because it is less bulky and holds her tighter. think the ergo will be perfect as she grows older. the sport is great if dad is going to use it too -- longer waist strap.

I used the baby bjorn carrier with my first child and it worked really well for him. It just wasn't working so well for my second baby, so I needed something else. I heard good things about the Ergo and decided to go with the sport carrier in hopes that it is cooler and would fit my husband better than the other models. I am in love with this! It is so comfortable. My four month old is 15 pounds and 27 inches long and was killing me in the bjorn. He is so light in this. I can sit down with him in this carrier too. I have only tried the front position with him so far. He needs to be a little older before I try the other positions. It may seem kind of expensive, but I think it is going to be my best baby investment. Note: If your baby is under 15 pounds you can't use this carrier without buying an additional insert.
