What Makes the Beco Carrier Different?
Removable Infant Insert
Beco Butterfly 2 is the ONLY carrier on the market with this (patent pending) feature. Infant insert enables even the smallest babies to ride safely and comfortably, in ergonomically proper position in our baby carrier. Infant insert can be removed once baby outgrows the need for it. Recommended use for infant insert is 7-15 lbs. Infant insert is INCLUDED with purchase, NO not need to purchase any accessory in order to have a complete package.
Security Inside Panel
The shoulder straps of the baby carrier are attached to the carrier's inside panel, which improves the distribution of the baby's weight (thus the carrier is VERY comfortable for the wearer and the baby), and it enables parent's to pass baby from one wearer to another without taking the baby out of the carrier (very convenient feature). Inside panel contributes to the safe use of the carrier (baby sits between this panel and the outside main body of the carrier, these two components together creates a harness for baby's body), also loading baby on wearer's back is much safer and easier with this inside panel, because it prevents baby from slipping down (or falling out).

LorifromGA July 22nd, 2010 I purchased the Beco Butterfly II carrier and I was so excited to use it. The only problem is that my 6 month old baby cried every time I put him in it. I had been using a BabyBjorn before I purchased the Beco. My baby likes to face outward, but it was horrible on my back, which is why I purchased the Beco. The few times I tried to put my 6 month old baby in the Beco...it was comfortable and didn't put any strain on my shoulders or back...that was the best part...I just wish my little one liked it. Sad to say, that I returned it.
JeniferfromGA July 15th, 2010 This to date is my favorite carrier. I currently own the moby wrap, a sling and Bjorn. I like this carry because it is so easy to use and very easy to adjust the sizes so my husband can use it as well. My only issue is the release straps are just a little hard for me, not sure if it is because I have very small hands but it takes me a few tries.
NaomifromNorth Texas June 23rd, 2010 I got a Beco carrier recently, and I've been thoroughly enjoying it. My 5 month old baby girl loves it and has taken some good naps in it. I even put my 2 year old toddler boy in and he felt light as a feather. GREAT back support - that was important to me. Pretty easy to put on. Lovely designs. Lightweight. Easy to store (small, compact).
Only 2 downsides for me:
1) Wish they had more base color options besides black. I live in TX, so having the black top (when I cover the baby) makes it hot. I wanted purple, but in case I have a boy next time around, decided not to.
2) Wish I could have baby facing out in front. But you can't have everything. It works on my front and back, so that's good.
MamaSquirrel3fromNJ May 25th, 2010 I have a bad back and it was important for me to find a carrier that distributes the weight evenly. I was deciding between Ergo and Beco but had a chance to try Ergo on in a store. It was definitely too wide and long for my narrow shoulders and petite torso. I decided to order a Beco and am happy to say I made the right choice. My baby loves it - she is 2 months old 12 lb but tall, so we did not need to use the infant insert. I like the harness piece - it helps me feel more secure and less sweaty. My tall husband is also comfortable wearing this.
mom February 23rd, 2010 I love this! It is great for my 6weeks old son. Only the problem is that neck support does not work so much. Other than that, I like it. I also prefer to be a little more cheaper price.
meghanfromchester, ny January 14th, 2010 I honestly don't know how I managed before I bought this carrier. A friend of mine recommended it over the Ergo, and I'm glad I took her advice. It is super comfy! I have a 3-month old and a 20-month old, and I can carry either one easily! I love that I can switch between a front carry to a back carry without having to take it off, and I am glad I didn't have to spend extra money on an infant insert, since this one has it included. Highly recommend!!!!
Melinda fromGulfport, MS October 14th, 2009 My baby is 7 weeks and I've been using the Beco for 2 weeks now and we love it!
It makes getting things done around the house, grocery shopping, and errands a lot easier for me since my little one loves being held most of the day. It was a little tricky to get the infant insert positioned right with a wiggly baby. Baby enjoys it too, she usually falls asleep in it. One thing I'd like to note, as I'm disappointed in is that the Beco is Made in China, but both the Baby Earth & Beco websites say that it's "Made in the USA". When it arrived I was disappointed to read on the box & on the product itself "Designed in USA, Made in China". I thought I was paying more for a product Made in America.
Larafromaustin, TX September 6th, 2009 I am using this with my 2 month old baby and so far I think it is pretty good. I had a sling by Serena and Lily and although my baby loved it (she would often fall asleep in it), I did not love it. It was very pretty, but it killed my back. The beco on the other hand is incredibly comfortable for me, but my baby is taking some time to get used to it. I think in time this carrier will work very well for both of us. I suspect the issue with my baby has with it is that she feels she is being shoved into my chest, but again, she is getting more used to the carrier each time we use it.
Brenda King August 13th, 2009 My 18-month old loves riding in this carrier on my back. It took a few tries until I got the straps adjusted comfortably for my petite frame, and learned how to transfer the carrier with my son in it from the front to the back position. But now that I've passed the learning curve, we use the carrier all the time!
LaurafromChicago, IL June 10th, 2009 I tried several carriers/slings before getting the Beco and found them to either be too complicated or not a comfortable fit. The Beco was easy to figure out by viewing the online video and provides a supportive fit for my baby. Love it!
Marisol RomerofromStafford, VA March 16th, 2009 I bought this carrier for my 13month old little girl. I had a regular carrier that you can only use in the front and wanted one that an almost toddler would like and its the BEST. She is very comfortable in the front and LOVES being on my back. When you first pull it out the box and read the instructions it can be very confusing but once you watch the DVD (which I highly suggest you do) its very easy to use. I was scared that since I am short and petite that the carrier wouldnt fit well - but the adjustable straps are perfect and the her weight spreads evenly. Ive used it so many times already - have even gone hiking with her on my back. Plus its stylish - and even with that - my husband doesnt mind carrying her on his back too. The best investment - you wont be dissappointed!
ErikfromKentucky February 3rd, 2009 The Beco Butterfly II is a great carrier, but it is expensive. If you are a person who hates the sling style carriers you will like this one. Initially, it is difficult to figure out how to use but most people should be ok after they watch the video. I have no problem getting it on by myself but my wife has difficulty with some of the straps. The only problem I have had with this carrier is that for smaller babies (ours is 6 weeks) it is a little large. It works, but she has trouble figuring out where to put her head.
StaciefromMedina, TX January 2nd, 2009 Before purchasing the Beco Butterfly II Carrier, I used a Baby Bjorn. We own a small business and I carry my daughter when I am at work. Having her facing out on my front became more difficult as she got older (eleven months old) - for example, she began to grab money out of the cash register :-).
I wanted a carrier that would double front to back without being bulky. I need to be able to squeeze through customers with ease - a rigid frame backback would be too cumbersome.
The Beco Butterfly carrier has been perfect. It has been simple to use (I did watch the instruction video). My daughter enjoys being in the front or back.
The one downside in the way I use the carrier is that she cannot see straight ahead when on my back. I stand still for hours at a time (cash register or bakery), and I sometimes catch her leaning way over to the side to see in front of her.
This "leaning" does not occur when we are moving, walking or in a store where there is more variety of things to look at.
All in all - a great purchase - I would recommend it for those who want a soft carrier that will work as a backpack.
