Twenty-four hours after delivery marks the beginning of a mom’s fourth trimester. When Erica Andrews gave birth to her fifth baby she wanted to document this emotional and beautiful moment. She took to social media with a vulnerable image that resonated with thousands.

With her postpartum belly exposed and a bathroom counter filled with lotions and other toiletries, she embraced what she knew would be the last time she would feel this way. This moment was complete with all the feels that come 24 hours after delivery, and Andrews wanted to use her experience to help others understand that new moms need support and love from those around them.

“New mamas need exactly what their new babies need...love, warmth, food, and security. It is unrealistic to expect us to just fall back into normalcy,” Andrews told TODAY Parents. “We need time to process that big changes, to move through the sheer happiness, the unexpected grief, the feeling of your heart being stretched bigger than it ever has been.”
