The Reality of the First Week as a Mother

The time has come. You are bringing your baby home. Even after months of planning and preparing for baby’s arrival, you had no idea all of the emotions that would flood you in this moment. Excitement, love, joy...where is that instruction book?

The first week will bring sleepless nights and days full of watching baby sleep, as your family and friends remind you to “sleep while baby is sleeping.” Who can really do that though? You will need to watch them breath, check their diaper and take pictures of them sleeping.

This first week will be worth every exhausting moment.

You will learn their cries, begin to understand what comforts them and get to know your new best friend. Be present in each good and bad moment, knowing it won’t last forever.
