Britax Roundabout Convertible Car Seat
Since first arriving on the U.S. market a decade ago, the Roundabout has been a best selling car seat for the European-based Britax line of child safety seats. The legendary Britax Roundabout is renowned for safety, comfort, and convenience. The Roundabout is a convertible car seat, which means it can be installed facing rear for newborns and infants and then convert to a forward-facing seat to accommodate older babies. In the rear-facing position, the Roundabout holds babies from 5 to 33 pounds, and in the forward-facing position the seat can support 20 to 40 pounds and up to 40 inches tall.
Safety experts recommend infants stay in rear-facing car seats at least until the child is one year old. However, most rear-facing only seats have lower maximum weight thresholds, usually 20 or 22 pounds, which many children surpass long before their first birthday. As a convertible seat, the Britax Roundabout is a great choice for parents of babies who have outgrown their infant rear-facing only seats but are still too young to move to a forward-facing seat. Or, if your budget is tight and you want to avoid purchasing two seats, the Roundabout is a safe and economical option to accommodate most children from birth to 40 pounds.
For years, the Roundabout has earned high marks for its innovative safety features, such as Britax's patented Versa-Tether system, which anchors the top of the seat to the vehicle, reducing forward or backward movement in the event of a collision. While most car seats only provide tethering in the forward-facing position, Britax's Versa-Tether allows rear-facing as well as forward-facing tethering for maximum seat stabilization. The Roundabout can be securely installed using lap belt and shoulder belt harnesses as well as the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) anchoring system that accompanies most vehicles made after 2003 and a few models made in 2000 to 2002. The seat's premium, push-button LATCH connectors ensure a quick, simple, and tight installation every time. If you do not have LATCH, or if you'll be using the car seat in an older model automobile with metal locking clips on the safety belts (think of grandma's car), the Roundabout includes built-in lock-offs to tightly secure the vehicle's seat belt in both the rear and forward-facing positions.
The Britax Roundabout convertible car seat merges top-of-the-line safety features with a smart, user-friendly design, making it one of the most accessible car seats on the market. The seat's tangle-free, five-point polyester harness offers three harness heights for a snug fit as your baby grows, and the push-button, one-pull front harness adjustment allows you to tighten or loosen the harness effortlessly. The seat offers rear- and forward-facing recline options, and its one-hand recline handle make these adjustments a breeze. A simple but indispensable feature is the Velcro harness belt holders, which conveniently keep the harness to the side while placing the child in the car seat, making boarding less stressful on the parent and baby. With its compact size, the Roundabout is ideal for use in smaller vehicles with limited rear seat space, and its contoured, sculpted base is a perfect fit in most automobiles.
When it comes to comfort, the Britax Roundabout offers your little one plush, cozy seating perfect for snoozing or contently enjoying the ride. The seat's soft microfiber cover is removable and washable, and the matching belly pad keeps the lower buckle from irritating or pinching baby's tummy. The Roundabout's high density comfort foam gently cushions the child, while the EPS protective foam liner - the most widely used and highly regarded protective foam in car seats today - manages and distributes energy around the child's head and torso for a comfortable, relaxing ride.
The Roundabout conforms to all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety standards and is certified for use in aircraft, meaning you can secure the Roundabout into an aircraft seat to keep your baby snug and your hands and lap free. Of course, always check with your airline for any size requirements or other regulations regarding child seats.
For its safety, quality, and comfort, the Britax Roundabout convertible car seat continues win rave reviews from parents and consumer advocates and promises to remain a frontrunner in its field for years to come. BabyEarth offers the Britax Roundabout car seat in seven different fabric options to satisfy every style, from the sleek, urban Onyx to the fun, playful Aloha design.
The Britax Roundabout 55 Convertible Car Seat achieves revolutionary head safety through the use of Britax SafeCell™ Technology, Integrated Steel Bars, and Versa-Tether® that work together to minimize head excursion and reduce the risk of head injury during a frontal impact.
SafeCell Technology features SafeCells designed to compress in a crash, significantly lowering the center of gravity and counteracting the forward rotation of the child seat which normally propels the child toward the front seat
Integrated Steel Bars strengthen the connection to the vehicle and reduce forward flexing of the child seat during a crash
Energy-absorbing Versa-Tether features a staged-release tether webbing to slow the forward movement, reducing the crash forces reaching the child, and a two-point attachment to minimize forward rotation while anchoring the top of the child seat

We purchased the Boulevard for our primary car and the Roundabout for a second vehicle. Both are great quality seats and definitely worth the investment.
We spent a lot of time discussing car seats. We opted for an all in one car seat (i.e. no baby carrier). This is a great all around car seat. You do not need a lot of frills or attachments (which simply become hazards). Make your life easy. This seat is great, fits nicely into the car (I have a compact car) and it has lasted now for a year. The cover detaches and washes nicely. The latch makes it super easy and the seat works both for forward and rear facing. Overall, it's a great seat.
Everyone we talked to during our research had purchased a Britax and had rave reviews. When our son grew out of his Orbit infant seat we decided to buy a Britax instead of the Orbit toddler car seat. Love this car seat so far. Incredible safety and comfort for a very reasonable price. So happy with it that we ordered 2 more (one for each grandmother).
Got the carseat in approx 2 days after ordering - very fast shipping! Also happy that babyearth had the colors we wanted in stock.
Great Car Seat! The best for smaller cars or trucks. Still the same great quality that Britax makes. This is the second Britax Roundabout that I have bought.
I got this car .due to it's high safety rating. And BabyEarth gave me the best deal. Its soft and the fabric is easy to clean. Reading the reviews, I thought its too bulky, but it was ok. Overall I'm satisfied and feel like I got a quality product for a great price.
Bought this seat three months ago and have been very pleased so far. It was very easy to install and is not too bulky for our Prius. Compared to a Graco my mother bought for her car the straps on the Roundabout are super easy to loosen and tighten.
I was disappointed to realize that once installed in the forward facing position it can not be reclined. You have to recline it before installing and leave it in that position. We had it in the upright position and our son's head would fall forward when he slept. Problem solved once we reclined it slightly.
Would definitely recommend it!
Absolutely love this carseat, it arrived quickly as promised and was so easy to put together and install in my car. My son looks so comfortable and is so proud of his new "big boy" carseat. Am actually going to be purchasing another one soon so we have two in each vehicle.
I bought this car seat for our grandson as he will be out of his infant size one soon. The construction and design are very nice. The cover comes off for washing - a huge improvement from the car seats my kids had. The instructions are straight forward and there are helfpul labels on the seat for reminders. The influencing factor to selecting this car seat was the high safety rating that was noted on several consumer internet sites.
I really really like this carseat! It is very sturdy and seems so much safer and larger than many of the others thate I have tried. The only downside is that my daughter is still very small and at 16 months still needs to be rear-facing. It is very hard to get her in and out of the seat because of it's size and the tether system. Though, I would still take the safety and secutiry of the carseat over my convenience anyday!
This is the best size Britax for smaller cars...it fits into our modest sedan very well. We wish it did come with a few more fabric choices for the cover. We have onyx but since it's mostly black, we need to cover it if we're parked in the sun as it can get extremely warm.

I absolutely love this car seat. My 17 month old looks so comfortable while he's strapped into this seat. I wish I would have had this seat months ago. VERY easy to use.
I love this seat, it is perfect. Not bulky, light weight and looks super comfy for my 6mo old. It is so easy to install as well. LOVE IT!
We tried other high rated carseats on COnsumer Reports to save $....but we wound up buying this one. Better quality, comfort, fit and peice of mind. Just pay the xtra $$ for this one. Only suggestion is to look at the Marathon because it goes to 65 lbs. We bought it for our 2nd car.
