does anyone know if this humidifier requires a filter, and if so, what kind? the "drop shape"? THANKS!

We haven't had this for long, but so far it's performing about as we expected. It noticeably increases the humidity in the small room we run it in, and the tank is easy to fill in our (deep) kitchen sink. It does make a humming noise, similar to a refrigerator running. Also, the indicator on the output dial is difficult to read, but that hasn't been a big issue for us.
