July 3, 2008: The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (”CPSC”) has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 9,350 LaJolla Boat Beds and Pirates of the Caribbean Twin Trundle Beds imported by Bayside Furnishings, of San Diego, CA. The beds were sold at Costco and furniture retail stores from January 2006 through May 2008.
According to CPSC, “The lid supports on the toy chests fail to prevent the lid from closing too quickly, posing an entrapment and strangulation hazard to young children.” One incident report involves the death of a 22-month-old boy.
