The ERGO is the way to go when it comes to baby carriers. It's the best all around choice for carrying a baby anywhere from around the house to public places. The ERGO baby carrier is conveniently compact, comfortable to wear and provides sturdy support for your baby. The ergonomic design of the carrier ensures that your baby is in the correct sitting position to encourage proper hip, pelvis and spine growth. It does this by distributing most of the baby's weight between its hips and thighs. The design also considers the health and comfort of parents. The carrier balances the baby's weight to the parents' hips and shoulders, reducing physical stress. The padded waist belt supports the lumbar area plus 1" thick padding in the shoulder straps. It can be worn on front, back or hip and can easily be changed from one to the other.

Ergo is perfect for when baby is too heavy for a sling or for when you plan on carrying your baby for extended periods of time, especially for hiking and walking. Unlike other frame back packs, with the ERGO the baby is right against your back so their weight seems less. When carrying a traditional hard frame back pack, your baby's center of gravity is further from your body and can be awkward and feel heavier. For comfortably carrying your infant, try the ERGO Infant Insert (sold separately). It supports your newborn like a baby sling while having both hands free to work. This lightweight carrier lets you carry your baby comfortably for long periods with your hands free and it looks great too.

Features:
  • Recommended use from newborn (with additional Infant Insert sold separately) up to 40 lbs
  • Adjusts for most sizes, waist circumference extends from 25" up to 43"
  • Attached Sleeping Hood supports sleeping baby's head and expands with the growth of your child
  • Convenient pocket on back of carrier with side zipper for easy access
  • 100% cotton canvas outside and 100% cotton poplin lining and hood
  • More secure than a hard-frame for baby hiking and walking

I got the ERGO in Cranberry, and I love it. I work on my feet all day and I like to bring my baby to work with me when I can. I put her in the ERGO and I can work hands free while she naps on my back. It is comfortable and secure. It's been over a week and I am not sore at all.

We purchased the baby carrier at the recommendation of a local baby boutique shop owner. It is very difficult to adjust and put the baby in especially by myself. You cannot position the baby facing forward when the baby is on your chest and mine has to be able to see out at what all is going on. Once it is in place and adjusted correctly it is comfortable but all in all we were very disappointed.

I love this carrier and so does my 5-month-old baby. I especially love the hood feature; it allows him to fall asleep more easily and stay asleep longer. It is very convenient and comfortable. I wore it through two airports without any discomfort. It is easy to put on and slip your baby into comfortably. I have a Moby wrap, which I love, but it can be awkward to put on in public places like parking lots, stores, airports, etc. The Ergo has made errand-running and traveling much easier! My only suggestion would be a carrier that could also allow the baby to face forward. Other than that, this is a wonderful carrier! Well worth the money.

I purchased the ERGO carrier because my little boy had outgrown the Baby Bjorn. The carrier was a big disappointment. It was made very well, however, it was extremely hard to put the baby in by myself. I am sure with a little more practice, I could have got the hang of it, but it was definitely hard to put him in there by myself.

I had purchased a Baby Bjorn Air Carrier before my daughter was born. I chose the Air Carrier because I live in Hawaii, where we always have 80 degree temperatures. It worked out well in the beginning, but we noticed that long periods of wearing the carrier really strained our shoulders and back. Now that my daughter is 15 pounds, the carrier is unbearable to wear. I couldn't turn my head to the right for a week, because of the strain that it caused! So after seeing my friends with their Ergo baby carriers, decided to make the purchase. All I can say is that I wished that I had bought it back when my baby was first born! And now, it is wonderful to be able to wear her on my back while I make dinner, without her hands getting into it, especially when she refuses to be anywhere but ON me! The heat created between our skin sometimes creates an issue, but is quickly solved with a cool pack wrapped in a towel, placed between us! The sleeping/sun/rain/privacy hood is also a fantastic feature the others do not offer. Love it, and definitely recommend it!

I had a baby bjorn carrier and my back would start to hurt very quickly. Now with my Ergo carrier, I can carry my daughter for hours and not get tired. The neatest part is my daughter, five months, is instantly calmed when she goes into the carrier. We both enjoy this carrier.

Highly Highly recommended!!! With 3 children ages 8 to 1, owning several carriers including Snuglie front pack, Baby Bjorn, Nojo sling, Maya wrap, Evenflo trailtech (old model and new model), and Premaxx sling type carrier, this is the best thing I have EVER bought! I wish I would have been able to get one when my 8 yr old was a baby!!! Not only is it the most comfortable carrier I have ever worn, it doesnt make my back hurt- and I have arthritis all the way down my back. If I get a bit strained after awhile, I can easily switch him to another position. Not only can I carry my 1 yr old with no problems, I can carry my 2 yr old in it and my back is still great. It is so versatile, from infant to toddler to 40lbs. My sons legs dont get their circulation cut off (which it can in other carriers) his head is supported with the help of that neat little pack away cover. I have told so many Moms and soon-to-be Moms about this Ergo... Almost all Moms agree, that for some reason we cant explain, this is just THE BEST, most COMFORTABLE, STRESS-FREE carrier ever made. One little side note which event he makers say: It does take a couple times to get used to it because it is a bit different. But different is just that- but an absolutely wonderful difference!

I bought this carrier to tote around my 8 month old son. Come to find out, my 2 year old likes it too. This is the most comfortable yet sturdy carrier I've ever used. The mei tai always felt like the baby could slip out. The bjorn was very restrictive and I didn't like how baby dangled in it. I love the versatility of this carrier as well. front, back, hip carry.. Great product!

I bought the ergo baby carrier and infant insert for my daughter, who has a one month old baby. She absolutely loves it. She is able to move around the house and do most of her housework. I think the baby loves it too being so close to mom. My daughter says it is easier on her back and loves to take it when she goes shopping. It's well made and very easy to use. For me being a grandma, the ergo carrier was one of the best investments we made.

I am a petite mom with a very healthy (read BIG) baby boy and I have struggled to find a carrier that fits comfortably and doesn't give me a backache, shoulder ache or any other aches. I tried slings and other name brand carriers that all were difficult to put on and gave me terrible upper and lower backaches. This carrier is wonderful...the answer to my prayers. I can get it on with my son in a front carry very quickly and easily. It does take some effort to get him switched to a back carry but surely it will get easier with more practice. There is also a hip carry option which I have tried a few times but we still work well together in a front carry. I have absolutely NO pain while carrying my son for extended periods and NO pain when I take it off. My son weighs about 25lbs and I am almost 100lbs...I couldn't live without this carrier. He walks now but we still use the Ergo Carrier several times a week during shopping trips and we both are comfortable while using it. I truly cannot say enough about this carrier...it costs less than some of the others that don't work nearly as well.

I absolutely LOVE my Ergo! My daughter is 16 months and I still use my Ergo every day (use instead of a stroller or a grocery cart seat and often as a way to calm down before bed). The carrier is very well constructed and easy to use although it takes some practice getting the child on your back. I am a petite person and have no trouble carrying my daughter. I plan on carrying her as long as she is compliant! My daughter doesn't chew on the straps much anymore, but I wish I had known about the sucking pads several months ago. The attachable back pack also looks like a great addition, which I hope to check out.

Ergo Carrier - Hawaiian

ERGO Baby Carrier

Selected by Parenting Magazine as one of the “20 Best Products in the Last 20 Years” and hailing from Maui, Hawaii, the ERGO Baby Carrier was designed in 2001 by new mother Karin Frost. Disappointed with the current variety of slings and carriers on the market, her inspiration stemmed from the desire to ergonomically practice the philosophy of attachment parenting. The development helped to fuel the current baby-wearing revolution that originated with migrations of nomadic cultures from the Pleistocene era and led to the advent of the Cradleboard carrier used by Native American Indians.

The method of attachment parenting is based on the premise that by keeping your infant secure against your body at all times, you maintain the ability to practice nurturing parenting and tune in most effectively with your child's needs. This creates emotional bonds between the parent and child, thereby teaching the infant to trust the parent at an early age and creating a template for the child to develop self-assured relationships throughout life. With the ERGO Baby Carrier, parents retain the ability to maintain hands-free mobility during the early growth of their child, including working, exercising, traveling and sleeping without ever having to separate themselves from their baby. The ERGO Baby Carrier offers more support than its hard-frame competitors and gives the parent the option of three different carrying positions on the body: back to front to hip.

ERGO Developer Karin Frost aimed for a product that would allow parents to support and carry the child from birth to five years of age. The design of the ERGO Carrier is different in that the weight of the child is balanced between the parent's hips and shoulders, fully supporting the lumbar region, alleviating lower back fatigue and difficulty maintaining proper posture. The ERGO Baby Carrier also improves your baby's posture by elongating rather than compressing their spine against yours, ensuring proper hip and pelvis growth, unlike other carriers where the baby is hanging from the crotch. The material is 100% cotton canvas on the outside with a 200 thread count cotton poplin lining and hood. No material exists between the infant and parent.

The ERGO Baby Carrier features a padded waistband with adjustable webbing for waist circumferences ranging from 25" to 43" that clips low around the hips for shorter mothers or up around the bellybutton for mothers who are taller than 5'9". The shoulder straps are wide and feature padding 1" thick with adjustable webbing. ERGO also designed reversible cotton terry cloth sucking pads (at additional charge) that attach around the shoulder straps with a strip of Velcro to keep your baby from chewing on the straps. The shoulder straps are linked by another strap that clips across the chest so you can easily switch the child from the front carry position to the back without having to remove the child or the carrier from your body. Simply unclip the chest strap and rotate the waistband around your hips while supporting the baby's back with one hand. The ERGO Baby Carrier also features a sleeping hood that allows you to nurse in privacy or to shield your infant from the sun. The hood fosters convenience for unclipping the carrier from the body without waking the infant. There is a zippered pocket on the carrier for personal belongings and a spot for extra storage while the sleeping hood is engaged.

ERGO also offers a machine-washable Infant Insert (at additional charge) for use from birth up to four months. The removable padded cushion cradles the baby against your breast with both feet to one side, like a sling. ERGO maintains the stance that every parent should use a carrier that allows the infant to face inward at all times in the front carry position. Inward-facing carriers ensure that the baby can retract from frightening stimuli, learn to read parents' facial expressions and look for social cues to gauge how to react. They are also more conducive to developing healthy sleeping patterns. ERGO also offers other accessories ranging from diaper bags to backpacks.
Perfect for parents who need to multi-task and wish to keep their child close, the ERGO Baby Carrier offers both security and freedom. Developed and designed by a working mother and tested by tens of thousands of parents, it is sure to fulfill both your and your child's needs.
