I live with another single mother and we often take turns taking the kids to daycare. She introduced me to the clip (which is often tucked away on the back of the seat - and is not mentioned in parenting classes as part of putting a car seat in). She showed me how to use these and it makes the seat secure and stable - the seatbelt may lock, but it does not even come close to keeping the seat in as tight as this does. I bought enough so we would have one for each car and extras for any one who would be transporting the kids so that we could leave them on the seatbelt (it takes a little time and patience to get them in right but WELL WORTH THE TIME!!!). I would highly recommend one of these for your seat and having extras in case you forget it in your car. I tried to use it the way the instructions mentioned, but it was not as effective as the way my roomie showed me - she was instructed by a fireman - I would recommend taking it to a place (police or fire dept) to learn the proper installation...again, well worth the extra time.
