I bought these because of how my son eats with his hands. He scoops food rather than picking it up so the ring around the plates keeps it from getting on the floor. The suction ring works well, but you have to get it slightly wet first. The fork and spoon are great for helping kids learn. The fork's ends are rounded so they won't poke. Easy to put together. The suction ring does stain from tomato products, but doesn't detract from use.

This set by Gerber is junk! It does not suction to the table! The suction ring comes right off, it is hard to get back on the bottom of the plate, and they your baby will have it apart in 3 seconds flat! The dish will be in 3 useless parts before you blink an eye! Save your money don't even bother buying this set!!

I was looking for a bowl or plate that had a suction cup on the bottom to avoid being thrown on the floor. My grand-daughter is 12 months old, loves to feed herself with finger foods, but is just learning to use a spoon and bowl. This bowl has a detachable suction ring that is difficult to put on and doesn't stay. When attached correctly, it has a very weak suction. The baby easily lifts it up and tosses it. Also, the spoon and fork included is for a much older child. I wouldn't give it to her until she is about 3 years old. It looks too sharp and dangerous.
