Got Breastmilk?

Well folks, a Guinness World Record was set in March that deserves some recognition.  And no, it doesn’t have anything to do with longest fingernails or most shirts worn at a single time (anyone else automatically think of Joey Tribbiani from Friends?).  No, this record has everything to do with breastmilk.  According to CBS Dallas/Fort Worth, Alicia Richman of North Texas donated upwards of 86 GALLONS of it, securing her spot as a Guinness World Record holder for “Most Breastmilk Donated”.  I’m no statistics buff, but one could assume that amount could easily overflow a spacious bathtub.  Wowza.  I get this phrase is overused but it’s a necessary evil sometimes – You go girl!  That donation will improve the lives of so many infants.  Her main reason behind the overflowing donation?  To spread awareness of the benefits of donating to your local breastmilk bank.  What an inspiration!  You can check out the full story here.

Breastmilk is such a precious resource for many preemies and ill infants.  For more information on how to donate, check out the Human Milk Banking Association of North America.
