Submitted By: Pam from Brooklyn, NY   Date: 08/12/2008 After just moving back into our renovated house, fresh with new kitchen and very mobile 10 month old, I realized we needed some immediate child safety measures. I read some other parents' reviews of the KidCo, I decided to go with the adhesive mount (with optional screw kit). They work great, 95% of the time. The magnetic system responds well when the key is almost on top of it - but sometimes you need to wave the key in front of the area for a few before the latch will fully release. And watch out for your cabinet door/drawer type. We have full flush overlay drawer heads and doors, but the rails on the lowers drawers are set back from where you need to mount the lock. So I tried mounting the lock horizontally to the side panel and unfortuantely, this did not work so well. It latched the first time, but after that, it didn't lock at all. It seems that gravity keeps the latch closed - and the adhesive REALLY works - we couldn't get the ones on the side mount off!!! I haven't found another method to keep these closed yet. But the latches are great, work great and so nice not to have to put more screws into my brand new cabinets! I suggest for sanity's sake to mount the locks in the same place on every door/drawer head. And if you locate it in a place where you can use the key and pull the handle with one hand, you'll be much happier. And the lock override works just fine.
