We purchased a second base thinking that it would just make everything easier. It makes the car seat very secure and we never have to think about which vehicle to take because there is a base in both. It was especially helpful when we had to rush to the hospital; every minute counted and having the base ready to go was such a help. The Orbit is great overall and the extra base is really worth the money.
