I have an earlier edition of this seat protector. I drive an Odyssey, and maybe it's a function of the seat depth, but I can't use the pockets because the edges are covered by the car seat. Even with no pockets, it does protect the seat pretty well while still preserving the car seat's position on my seat (some slip/slide and you can't get a safe snug fit). There is a 'tail' in the back that slides back between the back/seat of your car's seat that helps keep it in place, although the picture doesn't seem to show it.

We have this seat saver under a convertible car seat, and it does not get in the way of the seat, and yet provides some protection for the leather seats in the vehicle. I feel that the material is thin and compactible enough to ensure a tight fit on the car seat, but does still provide some protection.
