My husband and I have been using this camera and monitor set for over a year now and have had no issues. The camera pans/moves to that I can see my child as she plays in her room and moves around or in one instance she fell out of her toddler bed and on to the floor. We panned down to see if she was okay. We use the camera plugged in so I can't speak for camera battery life. Also, we keep the monitor on the stand charging at night because it will run out of battery life overnight. Also, the monitor volume can be take down to mute; which can be very helpful when you are sitting very close to the room with the camera. (I am very sorry to read that another parent had a bad experience with this setup.)

PARENT ALERT: If you own a SUMMER brand baby monitor, know that it could break in the middle of the night and you won't know if your baby is crying. Our baby is 2 months old, and after her 3am feeding I went back to sleep and the monitor worked fine. We woke up at 7am, checked the monitor, and it was frozen on a black screen. We ran in and found our daughter SCREAMING, we have no idea for how long. The SUMMER company said they would only exchange it after they receive the defective one. We asked what we were supposed to do until then, they said "Try borrowing one from a friend." We weren't allowed to speak to a manager after that. It was our only option...which isn't an option. DO NOT BUY a product from the SUMMER company. We trusted the safety of our children to this product. If you already own one, know this is a common problem and you could wake up finding out your monitor is broken and your baby has been screaming. It's an awful feeling I don't want any of my friends to have to experience. Ever.
