There is great news for women having babies after the age of 33. A new research study has found these women are twice as likely to live longer than women who gave birth earlier in life. Scientists have found women who give birth in their thirties have higher odds of having longer telomeres.
Now, what are telomeres you ask? Telomeres are the parts of our cells that affect how we age. They act like tiny plastic caps that protect the chromosomes at the end of your DNA strands.
It’s important to note that a pregnancy later in life doesn’t specifically increase your lifespan. However, if a woman has a baby into her forties, for example, she is most likely genetically predisposed to live a longer life.
