Daniel Tiger Helps Parents Prepare for First Day of School

Creative resources show kids what to expect in Kindergarten.

Who knew an animal could help your little one prepare for the first day of school, but that's exactly what PBS' Daniel Tiger is hoping to do.

In an article on PBS.org, kids are encouraged to "be brave and kind", citing a Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood episode where Daniel gets ready to enter school, his mom sings, “When we do something new, let’s talk about what we'll do.

Parents are also encouraged to read books with their kids on what to expect with the new school year.

The first day of school is a transition, and transitions — even good ones — create stress; it can take a lot of energy to adjust to a new routine and get to know new teachers and classmates.
