There are many different ways to connect with your baby, and some of them are simpler than you might think. Bonding with your newborn can help him or her to feel supported, loved, and connected in the future. A study conducted by psychologists suggested that securely attached babies grew up to still feel connected to a romantic partner after an argument (Parents).
Physical touch is a cornerstone of attaching with your baby. Breastfeeding, kangaroo care, and kissing her small face are all simple ways to have that skin-to-skin contact. Other activities - such as singing or reading to him - are just good quality time.
Another important way to establish the tone of your family is to spend some time with your spouse. Growing your relationship with him is incredibly important. Your baby will eventually start picking up on that relationship as well, Parents points out, so it's crucial to set a healthy and loving example.
