What Motherhood is Like to a New Mom

Becoming a new mom is filled with emotions - so consuming and inexplicable. Although the experience is hard to label with one word, mother Kim Darnell uses amazing (mother.ly). She says she looked at her body post partum and saw "beautiful endurance."
A new mother will encounter joyous first experiences with their baby, but also live through frustrations, exhaustion, and a packed schedule. Feelings of incompetence can also discourage a new mom, and high emotions can inflame those fears. Despite the tears and uncertainty, however, Darnell claims that new motherhood is wonderful.

The experiences that a new mother shares with her baby allow her to connect with them, "enlarging" her capacity for love. Being amazed at your child and your incredible body, she says, showed her what it was like to be a new mom.
