The best toys for young children are not expensive electronics. The American Academy of Pediatrics recently reported that children, particularly under five, benefit best from building blocks and other simple toys.
Though it can be tempting to buy gadgets for your kids, they build relationship skills better by playing tactile games with others. This playtime also helps develop their imagination. M.D. Alan Mendelsohn, who co-wrote the AAP's report, claims that screen time does not have the same interpersonal effect.
