A single-vehicle car crash in rural Arkansas left a 3-year-old-boy and his 1-year-old-brother alone, possibly for days, alongside a highway in Ouachita County.

The older of the two boys was found wandering by himself, covered in cuts and scrapes.

After authorities released a photo of the traumatized boy, family members alerted deputies that the boy's brother was still missing, along with his mother.

From going door-to-door in the area where the 3-year-old was found, deputies found the mother's overturned car deep in a ravine.

Miraculously, the 1-year-old was found inside of the car, still fastened into his car seat, alert and responsive.

Tragically, the mother of the boys, who was later discovered to be four weeks pregnant, was found dead on the scene.

Family members and residents of the town are left reeling from this horrible tragedy, but as stated by detective Nathan Greeley, it is undeniable that the survival of these two boys is "nothing short of a miracle."
