Astronomers have photographed the birth of a baby planet, while it's occurring, for the first time.

The stunning image shows a new planet growing in our galaxy. The new planet was spotted by astronomers while looking at a young star called PDS 70. The planet is approximately 3.3 billion kilometers from the star, which his about 22 times farther than the Earth is from the Sun.

According to astronomers, the planet, called PDS 70b, is "1.4 to 3.4" times larger than Jupiter and has a surface temperature "somewhere between roughly 750 and 1350° C." The temperature of the planet is also surprising given its distance from the star.
