33-year-old Police Offer Jesse Whitten is now the proud dad to not three, but four girls, thanks to the request of a pregnant homeless woman he helped on the streets of Santa Rosa.
This Facebook post from the Santa Rosa Police Department says it all:Because the woman was homeless and there were drugs in the baby's system, the county had asked the woman if she wanted to arrange for emergency placement in foster care. Instead, she asked the county to "call Officer Whitten," Whitten recalled.
"She said, 'I knew you had daughters. I knew you were firm, but you were fair,'" Whitten said of his conversation with the woman at the hospital. "She had this vision of her daughters playing in tutus with her sisters. That's what she said she wanted."
According to a story on Good Morning America, Whitten said he had offered to bring the woman to a shelter, and that at one point, he drove her to a detox and rehab facility. He added that on another occasion, the woman asked if he and his wife would be willing to adopt her baby. Whitten said that at the time, he was unsure if she was serious about her request.
